The campaign was organized by the Waste Management Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic jointly with the Environmental and Technical Supervision Service under the ministry. It covered major retail outlets in Cholpon-Ata city and the village of Bosteri.

During the campaign, explanatory talks were held with shop owners and entrepreneurs regarding legal requirements restricting the use of polyethylene bags. Information was also provided on liability measures for violations of the established rules.

Representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources reminded participants that the use and sale of polymer film bags are prohibited in Issyk-Kul region.

Entrepreneurs were urged to switch to environmentally safe and biodegradable alternatives. It was particularly emphasized that only certified bags capable of rapid biodegradation and possessing relevant certificates issued by authorized state bodies are allowed.
