ISO/IEC 17025
According to him, the volume of hydrometeorological data has increased significantly. While specialists previously relied mainly on information from individual observation stations, they now have to simultaneously analyze data from multiple sources, including meteorological, hydrological, glaciological, and satellite observations, much of it in near real time.
Sakyev noted that digital technologies make it possible to automate data collection and processing, improve forecast accuracy, and significantly reduce the time required to prepare information for decision-making.
An important part of the agency’s work is focused on improving the accuracy of measurements and the quality of collected data.
One of the key priorities is preparing Kyrgyzhydromet’s calibration laboratory for international accreditation under the ISO/IEC 17025 standard. The certification confirms that a laboratory has the necessary equipment, methodologies, and qualified personnel to perform accurate measurements.
«Once accredited, the laboratory’s calibration results will comply with international requirements. This will ensure the reliable operation of our own observation network and, in the future, enable us to provide calibration services to other government agencies and scientific organizations. It will improve not only measurement accuracy but also confidence in the data used for decision-making in disaster risk prevention,» Daurbek Sakyev said.
