According to her, the agency tracks prices for 16 categories of essential goods, including both food and non-food products.
«The monitoring is carried out on a regular basis to identify unjustified price increases caused by external factors. Sometimes, because of logistics issues or delivery delays, individual traders begin raising prices. At the same time, many cite the exchange rate or higher wholesale prices, which can trigger market speculation,» Goryanova said.
She also commented on the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry’s recent report on rising prices for carrots and onions.
«There is indeed a slight increase in prices at the moment, but it is seasonal. There were some delays in planting in neighboring countries from which we import early onions and carrots, so the harvest has been delayed by about two weeks. However, prices have not risen sharply. Supplies continue, the products are physically available, and there is enough on the market. Locally grown produce is expected to arrive soon,» she said.
According to Goryanova, the average retail price is 31 soms per kilogram for onions, 47 soms for carrots, and 35–39 soms for potatoes.
She added that the agency has found no evidence of speculative pricing by traders.
«As for other goods, prices have stabilized. For example, vegetable oil hasn’t seen a sharp increase since the beginning of the year, despite changes in logistics. There were problems with chicken eggs earlier, but for objective reasons related to vaccinations and the replacement of laying hens. Now we see that laying hens are producing eggs in sufficient quantities. According to representatives of the Poultry Farmers Association, demand will be fully met in August. In connection with this, egg prices are already falling,» Oksana Goryanova added.
She also noted that the meat market is experiencing a seasonal pattern, as most livestock are currently grazing in highland pastures, but there is no shortage of meat.
The ban on livestock exports remains in force.
«At present, there is no need for strict measures such as state regulation of prices for socially important goods. Overall, the situation remains stable,» Oksana Goryanova concluded.
