According to Tengrinews.kz, an emergency outage occurred at 2:38 p.m. on August 14 on KEGOC’s 500-kilovolt overhead power transmission lines. As a result, emergency protection systems were activated, affecting consumers in Almaty and Almaty region. The amount of disconnected load was 300 megawatts.
Four districts of Almaty were left without electricity: Bostandyk, Nauryzbay, Auezov and Alatau. Power outages were also reported in several districts of Almaty Region. Specialists are working to restore electricity supplies.
Meanwhile, power disruptions have also been reported in Bishkek. The National Electric Network of Kyrgyzstan said it would provide journalists with further comments later. The city center and several other districts were left without electricity.
