The ministry said the minister was conducting an unscheduled inspection of renovation work in the cardiac surgery department of the National Center of Cardiology and Therapy when he witnessed the emergency admission of an 87-year-old woman with an acute myocardial infarction.

«The patient was admitted in extremely serious condition and required immediate high-tech medical care. The minister promptly joined the treatment effort and personally performed stenting of the infarct-related coronary artery,» the ministry said.

The ministry added that the stenting procedure was provided free of charge under the 24/7 Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) program.
