According to him, the pace of construction of social facilities in the country has increased significantly in recent years. Some 250–300 new social facilities are commissioned annually.
«Today, around 100 unsafe schools remain across the country. The population is growing, and we should provide people with new social facilities,» the minister said.
He added that around 100 social facilities are planned to be commissioned around Independence Day and in the first half of September. Some of the openings will be held online, as it is impossible to organize ceremonies at all facilities simultaneously, Oruntaev said.
The minister also said that the approach to school infrastructure is changing as new schools are built. In particular, schools are being designed with areas for outdoor lessons, separate spaces for teachers, and areas where students can grow plants and work with natural materials.
Oruntaev said the Ministry of Construction will conduct a final analysis at the end of the year to determine what proportion of unsafe schools has been replaced by new facilities.
According to him, the president has instructed authorities to ensure that construction work is not halted.
«Today, there is not a single facility construction of which has simply been halted because of a problem. If issues arise with contractors, builders or government agencies, we try to resolve them promptly,» he said.
The minister said one major exception is the Philharmonic Hall building, where construction was deliberately suspended due to questions regarding the project’s economic and technical feasibility. Work is expected to resume under a different design.
Oruntaev also said efforts are being made to make new schools more energy-efficient. Solar panels are being installed at some facilities, and if they generate sufficient electricity, schools could potentially feed surplus power into the grid.
The minister stressed that construction of social facilities across the country continues without interruption.
