The main purpose of the document is to share with the international community the historic achievement of the countries of the region: their ability to resolve sensitive issues through peaceful means (through dialogue, negotiations, and other mutually agreed methods) in accordance with the UN Charter and international law.

The resolution puts forward a simple and universal principle: when countries face border disputes, the way forward must be peaceful, lawful, and based on dialogue.

The achievements of Central Asia highlighted in the resolution will serve as a constructive example for the entire international community, a model of good-neighborly relations, and a contribution of the region’s states to strengthening international peace and security, the statement says.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that the adoption of the resolution is further confirmation and recognition of the ability of the Kyrgyz Republic and regional countries to peacefully resolve acute issues that have remained unresolved for decades.
