According to the ministry, the largest number of greenhouses is concentrated in Jalal-Abad region—805 farms with a total area of 120 hectares. Osh region has 390 greenhouse farms with a total area of 53 hectares.
Chui region has 311 greenhouses with a total area of 81.1 hectares, dominated by larger, more technologically advanced farms. Batken region has 186 registered greenhouse farms with a total area of 19 hectares. There are 82 greenhouses with a total area of 8 hectares in Issyk-Kul region, 40 greenhouses with a total area of 12 hectares in Naryn region, and 17 greenhouses with a total area of 5 hectares in Talas region.
According to experts, during the cold season (October — April), coal remains the primary heating source for greenhouses. Currently, approximately 85 percent of farms use coal heating. Local solid fuels, including coal from the Kara-Keche deposit, are primarily used, as well as imported coal from Kazakhstan.
Electricity is used primarily for irrigation, ventilation, and pumping equipment, and is used by approximately 8 percent of farms. Natural gas is used by approximately 6 percent of farms due to limited infrastructure and high connection costs.
Overall, the greenhouse sector in the Kyrgyz Republic continues to actively develop in the southern regions, and in Chui region, production is gradually expanding using modern technologies.
