According to the regulations, heavy trucks weighing over 18 tons are prohibited from moving in the city from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. These measures are aimed at preserving asphalt pavement during the summer heat.

The Main Traffic Safety Department explained that at high temperatures, heavy vehicles more quickly damage the road surface and deform the asphalt.

However, the restrictions do not apply to trucks transporting perishable goods, humanitarian aid, fuel and lubricants. Vehicles involved in road repair and construction will also be allowed to travel freely.

Compliance with the restrictions is being monitored by the municipal inspection and traffic police. Drivers who violate the rules may face liability under the Code of Offenses.
