According to the security service, operational and investigative measures led to the detention of suspected members of a transnational drug trafficking group involved in selling synthetic drugs through online platforms and internet shops.
The SCNS stated that on May 20, within a criminal case initiated under Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, officers conducted a controlled purchase operation via a Telegram-based drug store SUM shop.kg. During the operation, the synthetic drug Alpha-PVP was purchased, with payment made through an electronic wallet.
Subsequently, in a hotel in Bishkek, three Kyrgyzstanis were detained red-handed — individuals born in 2007, 2004, and 2009. According to investigators, a large consignment of synthetic drugs was found in their possession.
During searches, officers seized Alpha-PVP and mephedrone. In addition, stash locations containing Alpha-PVP in especially large quantities were discovered at the residence of one of the suspects.
The security service stated that the operation resulted in the dismantling of a stable synthetic drug distribution channel and the shutdown of the online drug store. All detainees have been placed in the temporary detention facility pending investigation.
The committee also warned that minors and young people are increasingly being involved in drug distribution via the internet. Parents were urged to pay closer attention to their children’s social circles, online activity, and messaging platforms, and to conduct preventive discussions.
SCNS reminds that criminal liability for drug-related offenses begins at the age of 14 in Kyrgyzstan, with penalties ranging from 8 to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
