He described the election as a historic event for Bishkek. According to him, it is important for Russia, as a permanent member of the Security Council, that its strategic partner will join the UN’s key body.

Kirill Logvinov stressed that Moscow is ready for close coordination with its Kyrgyz counterparts within the framework of the UN Security Council.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry representative, joint efforts will focus on protecting international law, strengthening a multipolar world order, and seeking responses to global challenges.

Kyrgyzstan was elected a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the first time in its history. The republic will serve on one of the organization’s principal bodies during 2027–2028.

The vote took place on June 3 during a session of the UN General Assembly in New York. Kyrgyzstan received 142 votes, while the Philippines, which competed for the same seat, secured 49 votes.
