In particular, riding on sidewalks will carry a fine of 5,500 soms. The same penalty already applies to motorists for similar violations.

The Main Traffic Safety Department said the new measures are aimed at improving road safety and regulating the growing use of mopeds and scooters, whose numbers have increased significantly in recent years.
