The amendments were initiated by the State Agency for Civil Service and Local Government Affairs.

As Baktygul Usenalieva, Deputy Director of the State Agency, noted, the amendments refer to Article 24 of the Law on Burial and Funeral Services, which allows for the construction of crematoria.

However, as noted, Kyrgyzstan lacks the necessary infrastructure, funding sources have not been identified, and environmental, sanitary, and socio-cultural aspects are not regulated. Furthermore, there are no specialists qualified to work in crematoria.

In this regard, it is proposed to suspend this regulation until January 1, 2040.

The initiators emphasize that this decision is aimed at eliminating legal gaps and developing a comprehensive approach to the possible introduction of cremation in the future.
