In his speech, he recalled how 40 years ago, the prominent Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov took the initiative to gather world thinkers to discuss the problems of humanity and held the first Issyk-Kul Forum with prominent writers, philosophers, and cultural figures from around the world.

«Today, continuing the intellectual tradition established by Aitmatov, I am delighted to see the most renowned contemporary thinkers from the Eurasian region at the 40th anniversary of the Issyk-Kul Forum, which is being held under the motto «The World on the Path of a Civilizational Turning Point: Together into the Future.» Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Issyk-Kul Forum is more than just a tribute to the past. It is a revival of Aitmatov’s humanist ideas, the creation of a new civilizational dialogue between north and south, west and east. Our goal is to find a unified intellectual response to the pressing challenges of our time: preventing the climate crisis, curbing the uncontrolled use of artificial intelligence, and preserving high human dignity and reason,» Sadyr Japarov said.

He expressed hope that the forum would generate valuable ideas, fundamental insights, and strong appeals.

The head of state emphasized that modern intellectuals are individually seeking ways to save the world from an ecological and technological impasse, but a unified and influential proposal has yet to be developed. He also noted that the international community expects the Issyk-Kul Forum to deliver real, conceptual steps, not empty declarations.

«Therefore, I hope that global issues will be discussed, such as creating a platform for mobilizing international organizations against wars and environmental crises, as well as finding ways to use artificial intelligence exclusively for the benefit of humanity. I believe that the forum participants, who have come from all over the world, will speak about a bright future for humanity. Only then will there be firm confidence that the Issyk-Kul Forum can offer new hope and a new direction to humanity, tired of the scourge of war and environmental crises. Only then will the goals and aspirations of the humanist writer Chingiz Aitmatov, whom you respect and of whom the entire world is proud, be realized,» Sadyr Japarov concluded.

The anniversary Issyk-Kul Forum has been opened today in Kyrgyzstan. It will run until June 22. The event brought together representatives of international organizations, the scientific community, culture, literature, and government agencies.

The Issyk-Kul Forum was founded in 1986 on the initiative of writer Chingiz Aitmatov and became one of the first global platforms for dialogue between cultures, civilizations, and ideas amid the crisis of the bipolar world and the threat of global confrontation.
