«I would like to note that previously there were many businesspeople in parliament. But now the trend is changing. According to an analysis of the data, 73.3 percent of the Zhogorku Kenesh’s members now come from the civil and municipal service, 15.6 percent from the business sector, and 5.6 percent from the social sector. But, as you can see, there are fewer businesspeople in this convocation than before,» Marlen Mamataliev noted.
He added that Kyrgyzstan has set a world record for gender representation of women in the Zhogorku Kenesh—31 women among 90 members of parliament.
«It’s encouraging that there are more young people as well,» the speaker noted.
