According to the resolution, sanitary protection zones will become a mandatory requirement for facilities whose technological processes may negatively affect the environment and public health.

The document also establishes minimum zone sizes depending on the hazard class of the enterprise:

2 km — for Class I hazard facilities, including rendering plants processing dead animals, bone-processing facilities, and livestock holding bases;

1 km — for meat-processing plants, slaughterhouses with pre-slaughter facilities, technical fat rendering plants, intestines-washing facilities, as well as cheese-making and smoking facilities;

500 m — for facilities processing hides, wool, fishery products, and other related industries;

300 m — for fish processing plants, dairy and butter factories, and slaughterhouses with a capacity from 50 to 500 tons per day;

100 m — for sausage factories, canning plants, cold storage facilities, and certain leather and wool processing operations.

The resolution will enter into force in ten days.
