The center was established by the National Manas Academy and the Centre for Studies in International Relations (CSIR) based in New Delhi.

According to the organizers, the new institution will carry out comparative studies of the two countries’ epic traditions. Researchers plan to examine the history, literature, philosophy, cultural values, and possible parallels between Manas and Mahabharata.

The center will also focus on intercultural dialogue, humanitarian diplomacy, international academic cooperation, and the training of young researchers.

As part of the opening ceremony, the National Manas Academy and the Indian research center signed cooperation agreements with seven universities in Kyrgyzstan, including Kyrgyz National University, Bishkek State University, the American University of Central Asia (AUCA), and Ala-Too International University.

The universities are expected to conduct joint research, prepare academic publications, organize exchange programs, and involve young scholars in the study of epic heritage.

The event also featured the presentation of the first Hindi translation of the Manas epic. The translation was prepared by Indian scholars Hem Chandra Pande and Ramakant Dwivedi, based on the Russian poetic adaptation by Kyrgyz People’s Writer Mar Baidzhiev.

The publication includes all three parts of the epic trilogy — Manas, Semetey, and Seytek. The translators hope the edition will introduce Indian readers to Kyrgyzstan’s epic tradition and strengthen academic cooperation between the two countries.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Presidential Administration of Kyrgyzstan, the ministries responsible for science and culture, the Embassy of India, scholars, manaschi (traditional reciters of the Manas epic), and students.

Organizers believe the center will become a permanent platform for studying the historical and cultural ties between Kyrgyzstan and India, as well as the shared heritage of the peoples of Eurasia.
