According to him, on July 19, 2026, daily electricity consumption reached a new historic high of 50.1 million kilowatt-hours. On the same date last year, consumption was 18 percent lower, at 42.5 million kilowatt-hours.

«Air temperatures in recent days have risen to 45 degrees Celsius. Under such conditions, the capacity of existing power transmission lines decreases to 25 percent. We found ourselves in a no-win situation. To prevent damage to our lines and equipment, we had to carry out preventive regulation measures. Without this, the consequences would have been much more serious,» the Energy Minister said.

Earlier, temporary power outages were introduced in some areas of Bishkek and Chui region due to the increased load on the energy system.

According to National Electric Network of Kyrgyzstan, the heatwave affecting Central Asia, including Kyrgyzstan, has pushed electricity consumption to record levels. Power grid equipment is operating under maximum load, while some transmission lines have exceeded permissible limits.
