According to the regional police department’s press service, officers received operational information about a possible case of illegal cultivation and storage of narcotic substances by a local resident.

A criminal investigation was launched. During investigative activities, police conducted a search of the suspect’s yard. As a result, officers discovered and seized 340 grams of a dark brown substance, as well as 54 opium poppy plants, which police said had been illegally cultivated.

The total weight of the seized plants amounted to 4.12 kilograms.

Following the necessary examinations, the criminal case was reclassified under Part 2 of Article 288 of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan — illegal cultivation of plants containing narcotic substances on a particularly large scale.

The suspect M.E.R. was detained. A court ordered pre-trial detention for a period of two months.
