Muratbek Azymbakiev is a career diplomat with over 30 years of experience. He previously served at the Permanent Mission of Kyrgyzstan to the UN in New York and as Deputy Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva.
During his diplomatic service, Azymbakiev held various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, including the Kyrgyz Embassy in India and the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, where he served as Deputy Secretary General. Since May 2022, he has headed the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration.
Muratbek Azymbakiev was born on July 26, 1965. He graduated with honors from the History Department of the Mikhail Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Diplomatic Academy of the USSR/Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He completed a diplomatic internship in Japan and studied at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy.
He is a 1st Class Counselor of the Diplomatic Service, married and has four children.
