As Central Election Commission Chairman Tynchtyk Shainazarov told 24.kg news agency, he sent a letter to Zhogorku Kenesh Speaker Marlen Mamataliev.

«Elections must be scheduled by September 27. We have proposed September 17 as the date,» Shainazarov said.

Under the law, regular presidential elections are to be scheduled by the Zhogorku Kenesh no later than four months before election day. The election date has already been set for Wednesday, January 27. Accordingly, Parliament must schedule the election by September 27.

The nomination of presidential candidates begins on the day following the official publication of the decision to schedule the election and ends 75 calendar days before election day.
