This year, sugar beet was planted on 11,800 hectares. The ministry noted that the development of the sector contributes to strengthening food security, ensuring the stable operation of processing enterprises and increasing exports of domestic products.

The ministry is also working to introduce modern agricultural technologies, increase crop yields and strengthen cooperation between farmers and processors.

In 2025, Kyrgyzstan produced about 68,000 tonnes of sugar, nearly half the amount produced a year earlier. In 2024, sugar production reached a record 120,000 tonnes.

At the same time, the country’s annual sugar requirement is estimated at approximately 155,000 tonnes. The shortfall is covered through imports.
