About 43,000 meters were delivered to Osh and nearly 78,000 to Bishkek. Around 2,000 devices for transmitting electricity consumption data were also delivered.

A total of 390,000 smart meters are expected to be delivered to Kyrgyzstan under the project. The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Energy with financial support from the World Bank.

The equipment will be distributed among regional power distribution companies and installed at consumers’ premises.

The Automated Electricity Control and Metering System allows electricity consumption data to be collected in real time, faults to be detected and grid losses to be reduced.
