From January 1 to August 25, 2026, 50.7 tons of berries — including tayberries, raspberries, strawberries and sweet cherries — were imported into Kirov Oblast from Kyrgyzstan. This is 1.9 times more than during the same period last year, when imports amounted to 27.4 tons.

According to the report, laboratory tests found no quarantine pests or other regulated organisms in the shipments. The products were issued state quarantine phytosanitary inspection certificates, allowing them to be used for their intended purposes.

Market participants attribute the increase in imports to several factors. First, favorable weather conditions in Kyrgyzstan resulted in a high harvest. Second, logistics routes have become more stable and transportation costs have decreased, making supplies more attractive to wholesalers. Third, Kyrgyz producers are actively expanding their export channels and offering competitive prices, prompting local retailers to add more of these products to their assortments.
