According to the WHO, one person dies from the virus every 30 minutes across the country.

International donors have allocated nearly $300 million to combat the outbreak.

Additional $30.5 million has been allocated from the Central Emergency Response Fund, on top of the $24 million previously provided to the DRC and four neighboring countries to tackle the outbreak.

According to the UN press service, nearly three months after the Bundibugyo virus began spreading, the outbreak has now been recorded in six provinces of the DRC. As of August 12, national authorities had reported more than 4,660 confirmed cases and 2,184 deaths.

The case fatality rate stands at nearly 47 percent.
