According to police, officers from the department for combating extremism and illegal migration received operational information that the foreigners had illegally crossed a guarded section of the state border and were subsequently hiding in one of the villages in Kara-Suu district.

A criminal case was opened under Article 378 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, «Illegal Crossing of the State Border.»

During operational and investigative measures, the first suspect, a citizen of a neighboring country, 26, was detained. A court ordered his detention as a preventive measure.

Police later opened two more criminal cases under the same article and detained two additional citizens of a neighboring country.

Law enforcement officers also identified a person suspected of organizing the illegal transfer of the foreigners across the border. A criminal case has been opened against him under Article 168 of the Criminal Code (Organization of illegal migration and illegal entry or exit of migrants.)

Police are currently identifying other possible participants in the scheme and checking the detainees for possible involvement in other crimes.
