The bulk of imports consisted of poultry meat and by-products. During the first six months of the year, Kyrgyzstan imported 42,617.3 tonnes of poultry worth $47,082.8 million, accounting for 93.5 percent of the total value of meat imports.
China — 21,894.2 tonnes worth $17,680.7 million;
Ukraine — 6,210.2 tonnes worth $10,294.8 million;
Russia — 6,910.1 tonnes worth $9,612 million.
Over the six-month period, Kyrgyzstan imported 584.9 tonnes of pork worth $1,340.1 million. In physical terms, this was a 2.45-fold increase compared with January—June 2025.
Imports of frozen beef amounted to 321.6 tonnes worth $1,183.8 million. In physical terms, they decreased by 27.4 percent.
Fresh or chilled beef was imported exclusively from Belarus — 65.4 tonnes worth $347,400.
Exports of meat and meat by-products from Kyrgyzstan totaled just $1,018.9 million in the first half of 2026, or 568 tonnes in physical terms.
The main reason for the low figure was a sharp decline in exports of fresh and chilled beef. In January—June 2025, Kyrgyzstan exported 553.6 tonnes of beef worth $2,585 million. During the same period in 2026, exports fell to 65.4 tonnes worth $365,600. All of this beef was shipped to Russia.
Kyrgyzstan currently has a ban on the export of meat and processed meat products aimed at stabilizing prices on the domestic market. The restrictions are in place until September 8, but the Cabinet of Ministers has proposed extending the ban.
Poultry meat and by-products accounted for the bulk of the country’s meat exports — 410 tonnes worth $556,700, representing a 70.8 percent increase in physical terms. The main destinations for poultry were Kazakhstan, which received 236 tonnes worth $284,900, and Russia, which received 82 tonnes worth $165,000.
Exports of pork by-products totaled 72.6 tonnes worth $16,300, with all shipments going to Tajikistan.
In January—June 2026, Kyrgyzstan recorded a substantial trade balance deficit of $49,360.5 million in meat and meat by-products.
The value of meat imports exceeded exports by more than 49.4 times.
