For the first time in its history, Kyrgyzstan was elected a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. The republic will be a member of one of the principal organs of the international organization in 2027-2028.

The vote took place on June 3 at the UN General Assembly in New York. A total of 142 states voted for the Kyrgyz Republic’s candidacy. The Philippines, competing for a seat on the Security Council, received 49 votes.
