According to him, the facility will function as a hospital-based residence where children and their parents can stay between chemotherapy courses.

«It may seem like a small thing, but in reality it is a huge change. Many of our patients come from the most remote parts of Kyrgyzstan. Some travel more than 1,000 kilometers. After each course of treatment, they have to return home and then make the journey back again. Now thousands of kilometers of difficult travel will become a thing of the past. How many deaths and unnecessary expenses can we prevent!» the doctor wrote.

lower financial costs for families;

fewer infections children may contract while traveling or staying at home;

fewer complications, antibiotic treatments, and repeat hospitalizations;

and, most importantly, more opportunities to continue treatment on time, increasing the number of lives saved.

Stambekov also recalled how the idea for the project emerged.

«Last winter, I requested a meeting with our First Lady and came to her with three projects that, in my opinion, could change pediatric oncology in Kyrgyzstan. She listened carefully to each of them, provided specific advice, and helped determine the next steps. Today, I can openly say that all three projects we discussed are being implemented. Each of them will allow us to treat our children better and more effectively,» he said.

The doctor noted that before launching the project, he had approached many well-known and wealthy businesspeople for support. Almost all of them asked one question: «What is the return on investment?» Unfortunately, no one agreed to take part.
