The President of Kyrgyzstan attended the opening ceremony of Balykchy — Kochkor railway and Kochkor station in Naryn region.

According to the press service of the presidential administration, Sadyr Japarov arrived at the Kochkor station by train, personally inspected the new railway route, and assessed the quality of the work completed. He also inspected the new station building and familiarized himself with its infrastructure.

The President noted that this day will go down in the history of independent Kyrgyzstan as another important milestone.

The 63-kilometer Balykchy — Kochkor section marks the first stage of the Balykchy — Kara-Keche — Makmal railway line construction project.

The President emphasized that Kyrgyzstan is building this railway with its own resources.

«During construction, approximately 1 million cubic meters of blasting was carried out and 8 kilometers of mountainous terrain were cleared. The construction of the track itself cost $955,000 per kilometer,» he said, adding that «we have revived the culture of railway construction, our engineering potential, and professional experience.»

According to Sadyr Japarov, this historic achievement proves that the country is capable of independently implementing large-scale infrastructure projects.

Construction of Balykchy — Kochkor — Kara-Keche railway began in March 2022.

«At the time, many doubted the successful implementation of this project. But today, we can proudly not only say, but also confirm in practice, that that historic decision was the right one,» the president said.
