According to him, with regard to the charge of abuse of office, on which the defendants were previously acquitted, the prosecution is asking the court to overturn the acquittal and impose a sentence within the penalty prescribed by law.

The prosecution also considers the sentence imposed under Article 326 too lenient and is seeking to have it increased.

«For the charge on which they were acquitted, the prosecution is asking to overturn the decision and impose a sentence within the statutory penalty. Under Article 326, they consider the sentence too lenient and are asking for it to be increased,» the lawyer said.

The defense, in turn, insists that the defendants are completely innocent and is asking the court to issue an acquittal.

Earlier, the prosecutor’s office had sought nine-year prison sentences for the defendants in the «Letter of 75» case.
