According to it, as of the beginning of 2026, the total number of young citizens of Kyrgyzstan reached 2,730 million.

Regions with the highest number of children

By gender, the demographic situation shows a stable balance:

Compared to the beginning of 2025, the total child population of the republic has increased by 15,000, or 0.6 percent. The majority of young citizens live in the regions: 63 percent of children live in rural areas, and 37 percent in cities.

The National Statistical Committee recorded the highest proportion of the younger generation in Batken, Jalal-Abad, Osh, Talas, and Naryn regions (from 38 to 43 percent of the total regional population). In Bishkek, the figure was lowest, at only 24 percent.

By age, children at the beginning of 2026 were distributed as follows:

38 percent were children under 7 years old (1.45 million people);

46 percent were schoolchildren aged from 7 to 14 (1,258 million people);

16 percent were teenagers aged from 15 to 17 (427,000 people).

In 2025, more than 140,000 children were born in the country (almost 72,000 boys and more than 68,000 girls). Women aged from 20 to 29 traditionally account for the peak birth rate (55 percent of all births).

Growing demographic indicators require the constant expansion and modernization of social infrastructure. By the end of 2025, more than 2,000 kindergartens were operating in the country, accommodating over 276,000 children.

At least 1,600,000 children are currently enrolled in 2,400 day schools in the country. The government continues to systematically increase capital investment in the construction of new educational institutions. For example, in Bishkek alone, 20 new schools are being built and are scheduled to open this year.
