In the country’s two largest cities, Bishkek and Osh, fuel prices have been steadily rising both month-on-month (compared to May 1) and since the beginning of 2026.
Where fuel is most and least expensive
An analysis of May fuel prices across populated areas of the republic revealed significant regional differences as of May 29:
Most expensive: Balykchy — 88.08 soms per liter.
Cheapest: Talas, Kara-Balta, and Semetey village (Manas district) — 84.4 soms per liter.
Most expensive: Razzakov — 80.28 soms per liter.
Cheapest: Talas — 74.36 soms per liter.
Most expensive: Osh — 94.53 soms per liter; Batken and Uzgen — 94.4 soms per liter.
Cheapest: Kerben — 91.20 soms per liter.
The May surge in diesel prices — by more than 3 soms in Osh and 2.73 soms in Bishkek — came ahead of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers’ announced decision to introduce state regulation of fuel prices. The measure has been in effect from May 25 through September 30.
