United Cities and Local Governments is the world’s largest international association of local and regional governments. It brings together more than 240,000 cities, municipalities, and local government associations from over 140 countries, representing their interests at the international level, including cooperation with the United Nations and other global institutions.

Vice presidents of the organization are members of its governing bodies and participate in shaping strategic decisions on sustainable urban development, digitalization, environmental policy, municipal governance, and international cooperation.

According to the Bishkek City Hall, the election of Aibek Dzhunishaliev reflects the strengthening of Bishkek’s international position and opens new opportunities for the capital to engage in global projects, exchange experience, and expand partnerships with cities worldwide.
