According to the center’s data, 76.2 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s citizens lead an unhealthy, low-activity lifestyle.

Experts noted that any form of physical activity helps normalize blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels, supports weight management, and strengthens the cardiovascular system. This, in turn, reduces the risk of hypertension, stroke, coronary heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.

Doctors recommend that children and teenagers aged 6–17 engage in moderate to vigorous physical activity for a total of at least one hour a day. Additional exercise beyond this duration provides further health benefits.

For adults aged 18–64, specialists recommend at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity per week or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity activity per week. Each session should last at least 10 minutes.

Older people are encouraged to remain physically active as much as their health condition allows.

Activities such as brisk walking, climbing stairs, gardening, dancing, active games with children, household chores, and agricultural work can help maintain good physical fitness.

Doctors classify running, very brisk walking, fast cycling, heavy physical work (such as chopping wood or digging a garden), swimming, aerobics, mountain climbing, and sports such as football, volleyball, and basketball as vigorous physical activities.

The recommendations apply to healthy people. The center emphasized that citizens with cardiovascular diseases or diabetes should consult their family doctor.
