According to him, 2026 marks an anniversary for the organization, as the SCO is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Almaz Bukalaev emphasized that today the organization unites 10 states, 15 dialogue partners, and two observer countries.

«This is not just a regional association, but an influential center for global dialogue and strategic partnership,»

he noted.

According to the coordinator, since the beginning of the year, Kyrgyzstan has hosted meetings of heads of railway administrations, Ministers of Transport, Agriculture, Ecology, and Health, as well as conferences on sports and security.

One of the key events will be the SCO summit, which will be held in the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic. Following the meeting, the adoption of the Bishkek Declaration is planned, reflecting the agreed position of the participating countries on pressing international issues.

Cultural, educational, and youth events are planned as part of the chairmanship. These include the Aitmatov Forum in Issyk-Kul, the SCO International Film Festival, a media forum, the SCO Women’s Forum, a Youth Digital Forum, and an international camp for young scientists.

According to Almaz Bukalaev, Kyrgyzstan has put forward a number of initiatives in the areas of digitalization and security. In particular, the country proposed the creation of data processing centers and a draft agreement on cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence.

Bishkek is promoting the creation of a center to combat transnational organized crime within the SCO regional anti-terrorism system. The center is expected to be located in the capital.

In June, the Kyrgyz Republic will host a meeting of the SCO Business Council and a Business Investment Forum with the participation of entrepreneurs and investors from the SCO member states.

Almaz Bukalaev noted that Kyrgyzstan is paying special attention to the high-quality organization of events during its chairmanship year, especially against the backdrop of the 35th anniversary of the republic’s independence and preparations for the SCO summit and the World Nomad Games.
